Some HUGE news

Here it is in a nutshell: Red Mountain Community Church made us an offer we couldn't refuse. We're going to Arizona! It's the end of a long journey that God was leading us through, starting way back in the spring. The Spirit of God started leading us somewhere, prompting us to move on from our current positions and roles without a clear destination. So we obeyed. We struggled. We questioned what we were doing, where we were going, even up to a few days ago. Now it looks like this is where God has been leading us all along. I guess hindsight is 20/20. God knew exactly where He wanted us all along. God was working not only in our lives, but in the lives of the leadership and students at Red Mountain.

This process is happening very quickly. Our friends Brian and Kristy are getting married this Sunday, and I'm the best man. After that, we hope to pack up, say our goodbyes, and get on the road early in the morning on October 4. That's a week from this Thursday. Whoa. It's crazy to think that after living in the northwest for over 20 years, we'll be moving to a warmer climate.

I feel very "adult" making decisions like this. As a husband, it's the first major family decision I've ever had to make (besides asking Katie to marry me!). It took some God-given courage to make some of the decisions we've had to make during this process. It has been a stressful and tiring time. But God has refined me as a man during this, showing me what I can do through His strength and guidance.

Thank you to everyone who has been praying for us through this process! That sounds like an Oscar-speech thank-you, but we really are grateful for our family and friends who have been extremely supportive and loving. Life is so much better when you're doing it with people who love you. We're excited to see what life holds as we travel down to Mesa, AZ and dive into the adventure God is leading us through!

We're going to Arizona! We're going to be Arizonites...or Arizonians? Whatever, we're going to Arizona!

I am really glad that you got a job you know God wants you to have. I can't believe that less then 10 weeks ago we found out that you were leaving Hinson. Man that feels like ages ago. I miss seeing you and Katie every week at church but like I said I am extremely happy for you. I know that you and Katie will change so many lives in Arizona, you changed mine. Thanks for everything.

  2. Congrats! That is great news! I am so happy for the both of you. Like I've mentioned earlier, it does kind of suck that we're moving back up to the Northwest just as you guys are moving down, but I guess it's for the better. Hopefully you'll have the chance to visit. Congrats again!

  3. i guess the uber cool way to say it is "Zonies." Though traditional folks say "Arizonans." Least that's what we have learned so far...

  4. Betsey-
Thanks for reading the blog faithfully, and hope that high school rocks for you!

If you ever find yourself down in AZ, you'll have to drop by. Especially so we can see the new baby!

I like "Zonies" I also like "Red Mountaineers." Or "Mesakians." The latter is someone from
