Adventures I would rather not repeat!

Today I had lunch with a co-worker. She and I had planned this a few weeks ago and it was great to get out of the office and get to know a woman that I work with. We went to a little place called the Middle Eastern Bakery and Cafe or something like that. The food was amazing! It was great to sit outside in the sun and enjoy good company.

This is where the good things about this lunch ended. We came back to the office and within about a half an hour I had the worst stomach ache. I thought it might have been that I just ate too much or maybe because the food was not what I was used to eating. About 15 minutes later I realized that the situation was more serious than I had previous thought. The tums that I had scavenged through the office kitchen were not helping and I was starting to get cold sweats! I asked the guy that I carpooled with this morning if he could by chance leave early, he said of course. I then proceeded to empty my entire stomach in the bathroom and as I got into his car moments later to face the highway 60 traffic I just prayed with everything in me that I would not get sick in his car! Because that would be mortifying. I tried to think of anything and everything to keep my mind off of how sick I was. I made it home and collapsed on my bed. I believe I got food poisoning. The feeling today was very similar to the one I had a few months ago in Portland after I ate cottage cheese and yogurt for lunch one day at work. Before these last two times I cannot remember ever having food poisoning. I have to say the experiences are enough to make me consider giving up food altogether.

I am feeling better right now, but it seems to come in waves. I have to keep myself busy so that I keep my mind off my misery! So I had originally taken the above pictures to show a cool and unique restaurant that I went to (Candace would be proud), it ended up that these pictures were used to tell a story of extreme pain and discomfort! Oh well, you live and learn!

  1. I would advise you don't have lunch alone with a female that is not your wife. It disrespects her and it also potentially puts you at risk of a bad witness.

  2. Thanks for your concern, but since it was me, Katie that posted that, I think it is fine that I have lunch with a female co-worker by myself. Once again thanks for your concern, but I think we got it covered.

  4. Andrea, I am doing better this morning. I am at work because I have to much to do to be sick! Once you get everything out of you, you just feel weak. Now I just have to make myself eat.

  5. Katie- soooo sorry. I was initially very interested and "proud" =) when I saw the pictures...it also made me very interested to read about this place....except for the way it all ended! Yuck. Hope you are 100% now and you should really consider not being such a bad witness....sorry, I am laughing. =) People should not leave anonymous comments if they have something to say.

  6. love it... not that you got sick, and we hope you feel better soon... but the story telling and then... the first comment... and then your response... we laughed long and we laughed hard... and they say laughter is good medicine and that it is good for the soul... so thank YOU... (and anonymous)

  7. Thanks for not leaving me for another woman, Katie. I love you lots.

And to anonymous: I am doing my best to be the best wife I can for Katie, but since I'm a male, it can be pretty difficult at times. Thank you for the timely advice.

  8. Katie, I empathize with your food poisoning - had it in NYC a few years ago. it's a bummer.

    Joel, fantastic reply to anonymous.

  9. I feel obligated to leave a note after the crazy heppenings going on with my family. So let me ask a few questions to get this straight. Who is leaving who? Are you the wife...or the husband? Does that effect what sex you are? Or are you both asexual and can change based on the comments left on your blog?

  10. Andrew, I have no idea what you're asking, but rest assured that your brother-in-law is indeed a man and a husband.
