Northwest Flooding

I just got a text message from my friend Brian, who lives in Portland, OR. It seems that the entire Northwest got pounded with lots and lots of rain for the past few days. In Chehalis--a town about halfway between Tacoma and Portland, my two former homes--the I-5 interstate is under 10 feet of water. Places in Olympia, Tacoma, and Portland are all experiencing flooding and evacuations. I read that Bremerton, WA experienced about 10 inches of rain in a 24-hour period. We know people from Vernonia, a small Oregon town that is being evacuated due to the flooding and mudslides. The picture here is from Olympia, my wife's hometown.

Hearing about familiar places being underwater is somewhat surreal for me. We are praying for the Northwest as people pick up the pieces from the aftermath.

  1. It took me three hours to get to work on that day. It was insane.
