The first annual RMCC Junior High Cereal Fest

Dislaimer: I have to start off by saying that this is not an original idea. In college both the guys and girls dorms would have what we called cereal fests. I think the guys had more than the girls did, but either way, they were fun.

So today for the last Sunday of the series on Philippians that my Bible Study has been going through these past six weeks, we had a review/celebration time. I decided this would be a great time to initiate some students into this beloved event called cereal fest.

So we went to the park near RMCC and pulled out the cereal and the milk and enjoyed multiple bowls of cereal. Joel and I have reflected about this a lot, there is something just amazing about cereal. Cereal is good at any time during the day, it is yummy for breakfast but also makes a great afternoon or midnight snack. I prefer the healthier of cereals, but I indulged the sweet tooth girls and bought some sugary cereal. It was a beautiful day, probably in the mid 70's as we sat at the park, ate cereal, played on the toys and just talked.

I had asked each of the girls to do some type of creative expression of what they had learned in Philippians over the past six weeks. They all came bearing their creativity. Some were poems, other drawings and collages. My project can be seen in the middle of the first picture. I painted letters that spell out JOY. I will be hanging them in my kitchen as a constant reminder to me. I have included some pictures of this memorable and glorious event. It was great to just have fun together. We are taking three weeks off and will begin the Bible Study again on April 6th. It is not decided what we will study next, I am in debate about a few books of the Bible.... we will have to see.

  1. You are such a great and creative small group leader, KT... It sounds like you all learned a lot! I think we will enjoy reaping the benefits of your discipleship when your kids get to college group =)
