Spring Break Opportunities

It's spring break for our students in Mesa, which means the junior high students I spend time with are doing one of two things: a) busy traveling on vacation, or b) bored at home. We're gathering on Wednesday night for a time of casual fellowship and fun for the students in the "b" category.

Some have questioned why I would choose to meet in the middle of spring break--none of the other ministries at church are gathering on Wednesday, and many people are on vacation. I view this week as a great opportunity to spend extra time with students. They don't have school during the day, and many don't have sports practice this week. It's the perfect opportunity to take a student out to lunch (or breakfast!) or just hang out! Many would find it to be a relief to have someone to hang out with, especially since jr. high students can't drive anywhere and find themselves stuck at home for a week.

Ephesians speaks about making the most of every opportunity we've been given. I don't want to the miss the relational opportunity of spring break!

  1. That's a good idea Joel! I'm always bored at home during spring break. Plus I don't get to hang out with most of my friends that week with no youth group.

  2. its cuz you are a kick butt youth pastor! impressivo!
