Plane Reading

Katie and I will be flying to Europe two weeks from today (!), which is a ridiculously long flight. Flying is always a great time for reading, and I've read some of my favorite books on planes (Both The Divine Conspiracy and Velvet Elvis were past plane reads).

I've begun to compile a reading list, and we need your help. Can you suggest any good books you've read lately? Write about them in the comments! Fiction, non-fiction, novels, theology, business, anything will do!

  1. Hey Joel and Katie -

I'm reading "Raw Shark Texts" now, which is like Jaws meets the Matrix. It's a super hard book to try and describe, but I know that anyone who likes psychologically driven thrillers or thought provoking material would love this. Also, I'm still reading it so any objectionable content past the half-way point is unbeknownst to me (though the first half is clean).
    Peter Gardner

  2. Hey Katie - I thought of another great series that is Scottish that you would love! There is a four book series by Carol Umberger. The first is called Circle of Honor. they are super good. Of course you know I would also HIGHLY recommend the Twilight Series if your students haven't already talked you into reading it! I'm very little help in the non-fiction arena.

  3. Joel,

If you haven't read "To the Golden Shore: The Life of Adoniram Judson", I highly recommend it! (under $12 at Amazon.com)

I just finished it this morning. I couldn't put it down once I started. It was riveting, inspiring, moving, the best book I've read so far this year by far.

  4. i suggest a missionary biography. kind of fitting and might be extra powerful. mark is hoping to book share with the 2 of you...so he will bring some good stuff too!

  5. Thanks for all the suggestions everyone! I have almost too many books to read (especially now that I'm intrigued by the Twilight series, Lori).
