Blue Like Jazz meets Obama

Donald Miller, Christian author and speaker, will give a benediction at the Democratic National Convention. Money quote:

"This is about any believer who's called and asked to come and pray. No matter you're called to pray, you go."

Would you pray at either convention--Republican or Democratic--if asked?

  1. Interesting...that is a hard question to answer! I really loved Donald's response of if you're asked to pray, you just do, but personally, I don't think I would've accepted. If I was in his position as a respected author and model figure for lots of young Christians, I don't think I would want to be pereceived as showing favoritism toward EITHER political party for fear of alienating members of the other. Mainly because I don't think I really fit neatly into to either one, so I wouldn't want to risk the label of being associated with either one. But perhaps he's more courageous than I when it comes to labels. :) It also just bugs me when church and politics get combined. Like when churches have American flags up by the pulpit. I'm all for partriotism, I just hate it when we're arrogant enough to imply that Jesus endorses our political party or candidate.
