I Heart TOMS Shoes

I don't know where I first heard about TOMS shoes--maybe on a blog somewhere--but I love the concept. For every pair of shoes purchased, TOMS will give a pair of shoes to a child in need. They call it "one for one." The company currently works in Argentina and South Africa, but hopes to expand in the upcoming years. (Random nostalgic bonus: the company is friends with Hanson--that long-haired pop boy band from the mid-90s). I bought a pair of black ones, and they're quite comfortable. (And check out those skinny chicken legs!)

In a small way, this is the kingdom of God being displayed. It's taking care of the poor and clothing the naked (Matthew 25). It may not seem like much, but one child now has a new pair of shoes. And TOMS doesn't want people to just buy some shoes to clear their conscience, then check out. Buying shoes is just the first step; TOMS does periodic Shoe Drops in South America and Africa giving people opportunity to go distribute shoes to children. It's a very cool idea that I'm sure Jesus likes. Check out TOMS shoes by clicking here.
