My view on this whole thing.

Well, I figured since Joel posted a few days ago about the soon to be addition to our family, I would post a little bit from my view. I also wanted to post some official (kind of) pictures from the race on Sunday. I guess they take them of everyone that runs the race.

This is me crossing the finish line (right hand side)

I cannot believe how exhausted I look in this picture,
I think this was about the 5 1/2 mile mark.

A few people have asked me if I ran a personal best my answer to this question is that yes, running 6.2 miles in 59:24 while five weeks pregnant is definitely a personal best for me. I went ahead and decided to run this race even though I found out a few days before that I was pregnant. The doctor gave me the ok and I had been running very consistent mileage for the past few months. Besides feeling exhausted, I felt ok. I kept getting frustrated at the people that were passing me, but then I had to remind myself that they were probably not creating a human being inside of them.

So how am I feeling in general? I am definitely more tired than I have ever been in my life and those of you that know me well, know I am tired all the time anyway. I have had no nausea yet, just hungry most of the time. I have been craving lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. Not sure if this is my bodies way of reminding me that I am creating a little heart and brain inside me right now or what. So I am loving the brocolli, green beans, spinach, carrots, apples, grapefruit, canteloupe, honey dew melon and blueberries just to name a few of the things that I have been snacking on. What has not sounded so good? Ironically mostly breads and other carbs. But don't worry I am eating my whole wheat pasta and brown rice along with my chicken and other proteins.

I have been continuing to run this week. Four miles Tuesday and 3 today. It takes much more motivation to actually get me started, but once I start I feel pretty good. My goal is to run through out this pregnancy. So lets hope I can keep that up.

I have been in complete awe as I have been learning about what my baby looks like right now and how he or she is developing. I will try to update as the months progress. As of Monday I will be six weeks. I hear that is when most morning sickness begins, lets hope that I have a similar pregnancy to my mothers three, she did not have morning sickness with any of us. Here's to hoping.

  1. ok, i'm still in awe of the fact that you ran that race...amazing!

you know what's funny? i craved fresh fruit like none other during my pregnancy, too! we constantly had to have cherries or watermelon or honeydew in the :o] and i never had morning sickness...a fact that many other mothers despised... :o]

oh, and it'll be easy for me to remember how far along you are, because you are as many weeks pregnant as felicity is old...what are the odds?!?

congrats, congrats, congrats...i expect many more updates than i gave on my blog :o] can't wait to see you in january!!!!

  2. Good update. Keep posting entries like this constantly to keep us informed!
