We would like you to meet...

Baby Mayward!

Yesterday, we had our first baby appointment. We were very anxious and excited to finally get into the doctor and get some more information. All of my crazy fears and worries were laid to rest as soon as we spoke to the nurses, nurse practitioners and ultrasound technicians. They were each wonderful and were full of helpful information and answered each of our questions. But the ultimate highlight of the experience was seeing our baby for the first time. It was incredible and completely indescribable. We could see the head and both arms and both legs (as seen in the picture above). But the coolest part was when the baby started moving around! I can't feel it yet because the baby is so little, but we could see it and it made everything so much more real. We saw the little heart beat in the chest. By the end I was definitely crying because it was such an incredible experience.

I am now in my 10th week of pregnancy ( my official due date is July 13th) and have been feeling progressively better each day. My very patient husband has been glad to have some home cooked meals again and a wife that does not just sit on the couch all day. We had a very productive weekend of cleaning, organizing and moving furniture as I finally felt well enough to tackle many house projects that had been unattended to for the last month. It feels good to have my life back. The nurse still warned that I need to make sure I get enough rest because I will probably still feel more tired than normal. But I am anxious to get back to my normal eating habits and back to running.

  7. Candace,

Mark mentioned on Tuesday that this means that he is a great uncle, which I thought was really funny because we were just going to have our kids call you aunt and uncle but if Mark wants the "great" in there to feel even older, who am I to stop that? =)

  9. Andrea,

I am not sure how often I will get an ultrasound. My next one is in the middle of February when we will find out the gender of the baby.

I have to say the majority of people think we are going to have a boy, but there is this nagging feeling in me that thinks it is a girl. From the very first days I knew I was pregnant I thought of the baby as a girl. I guess we will just have to wait and see!
