The Worst Film I Have Ever Seen Battlefield Earth: A Saga of the Year 3000. I've made a list of the worst films before, but this is even more appalling than those. This isn't a "it's so bad it's good" movie. This is just plain bad. Torture even. Words fail me. This is a complete disgrace to the medium of film in every aspect. The plot is nearly indiscernible, the acting is atrocious, the visuals are painfully outdated, and the dialogue will make you squirm uncomfortably. Even the makeup and outfits are terrible, with bizarre nose tubes, lots of greasy neck hair, huge furry hands, and--I'm not making this up--giant unexplained awkward crotch bulges (see picture above). I could find absolutely no redeemable element to this film. Here is Ebert and Roeper's review, and they agree with me:

I have never had such a strong reaction to a film. I was emotionally upset afterwards; you can ask my wife, I later apologized for my bad attitude. I felt physically sick to my stomach, probably due to anger or stress. I frankly hated this film. Please avoid watching this, even if you're somewhat intrigued by how horrible it sounds. Don't make the same mistake I did.

  1. I totally agree with you. Easily one of the worst films I have ever seen. Sorry you watched it! I didn't make it very far into the film and turned it off.

  2. Alright, so I made a huge mistake and tried to watch this movie today. I tried and failed to get through it years ago, but I had to try again. I got about 45 minutes in and had to turn it off. Unbelievable.
