Junior High Bro Shower

The junior high students and youth staff threw me a surprise baby shower during youth group yesterday morning! They've been planning this thing for about three weeks, and no one let the secret slip! After a mind-blowing experience at Catalyst West Coast, my brain wasn't fully ready to lead on Sunday morning anyway. Perfect timing. We had a fantastic time eating cake and opening baby gifts and laughing together. Katie and I got lots of encouraging notes and cards that only junior highers could write:
  • "Your baby will be awesomely awesome."
  • "Congrats! I want your baby."
  • "I hope your baby turns out good."
  • "Remember, Joel, poop is good!" (He actually spelled it "rember")
  • "If your life had a theme song, it would be 'Separate Ways (World's Apart)' by Journey."
That last one makes no sense, but it still rocks.

Instead of a baby shower, one girl deemed it a bro shower. It was the manliest baby shower a junior high pastor could have. I love my job.
