This Past Year

It's the final weeks of 2009 and the close of a decade. And what a year it's been.

Bought my first car.

Purchased my first house.

Became a father.

Became a real adult (i.e. turned 25 years old, which means I can finally rent motor vehicles without financial penalty).

I've watched over 140 films this year. Read 33 books. Plus, there's still three weeks left in the year, so more books and films to digest.

More than anything, I've been stretched and strengthened in my spiritual journey in ways I've never expected. It's been a year of being desperate for God, a year inundated with situations where my only response is to throw up my hands and seek Him in prayer because I cannot possibly do this on my own. I cannot be a good pastor, a good husband, a good father, a good man without His help. Took me 25 years to learn that. I'm still learning it.

Let's hope 2010 will be an even greater year.

What have you learned or experienced in 2009?
