In Between

This is the Saturday in between Good Friday and Easter. It is a day of tension and transition, a day in between the two most significant days in history--the day that God died for His creation, and the day God conquered sin and death. The Eastern Orthodox church calls this day "The Great Sabbath." It's a day when Christ physically "rested" for all of us so that we can enter the eternal Sabbath-rest for the people of God.

On this day of rest, I'm striving to remember both the death and pain we come from and the hope-filled joy that comes from living in the in between of this world and the coming kingdom of heaven.
