Saying both Yes and No

I'm easily tempted towards fun. Who isn't. Fun is...well...fun. Yesterday, I had opportunities to see a great concert (for free!) and spend time with great friends. It sounded like a lot of fun.

I turned it all down.

Because while I love friends and music (and movies and social gatherings and ministry), I love my wife and my son more.

Even more than my little family, I love the Father who has graciously given me all these gifts.

So I said "no" to events and people I might normally say "yes" to, because sometimes my own soul needs rest. And sometimes that rest is best found in an infant boy's laugh and a beautiful wife's smile. That is far more "fun" than anything else I could choose to do with a Saturday afternoon.
