"Poverty is the result of broken relationships"

...poverty is not simply the lack of money, food or economical status. Instead poverty is a result of broken relationships. Relationships between God and man, man and creation, man with each other and man with himself. These broken relationships are a result of the Fall. Because sin entered the world relationships are broken, painful and sinful. Each of us live with some sort of poverty in our lives because of broken relationships. Poverty is not just out there, far away in the lives of those living in slums or small remote villages. Poverty is here, in me, around me, and in people I come in contact with every day.

-Katie, my wife, at the Food for the Hungry sponsorship blog. Makes me wonder what areas of my own life and habits are currently impoverished.
