Moleskine'd

I just finished filling my first Moleskine notebook with journaling, prayers, random thoughts, and dreams. From January 2009 to June 2010, this tiny black book is filled with my story of the past year and a half:

Wrote dozens of prayers and petitions for friends, pastors, students, family, and strangers.

Jotted ideas, notes, and thoughts from conferences and cohorts, sermons and gatherings.

Bought a car, a house, a TV, and more Barro's pizza and Joe's Farm Grill burgers than I care to imagine.

Officiated my first two weddings.

Scribbled my son's name in the front cover months before he was born.

Filled an entire page with info from the day of Copeland's birth.

Had my paradigm shifted more times than I can count.

Still learning more about who I am and who God is.

I look back on a year and a half, and I'm floored with God's presence in my life. There are current circumstances in my life that I can clearly see God was preparing me for a year ago. There are moments I could never have anticipated. I've never been very good at keeping a consistent journal, but this notebook of ramblings tells a compelling story--that God is alive and active in my life, leaving me humbled by His grace.

Got a brand new Moleskine ready to be opened. Let's see what God does next.

  1. I know one thing you can multiple pages with...an awesome visit from the awesome Humphreys! Woot!
Also I see you're reading Three Cups of Tea. I'd like to know what you think when you're done.

  2. Brian, so far Three Cups of Tea has rocked me. Basically, one guy decides to change a small corner of the world...and doesn't stop until the dream has been accomplished. I'm halfway through, and it's a remarkable adventure.

See you in a week or so. :)
