Babies and Justice

My wife, Katie, has a powerful personal reflection on our son's upcoming birthday and ending poverty in our world:

I was deeply moved by children suffering around the world before I became a mother. It is for this reason that I work at Food for the Hungry. The fact that 9 million children die every year before even reaching their fifth birthday is appalling and heartbreaking. But since I have become a mother I feel like my heart is even more broken for the children of this world because I now have a precious little boy that I get to hold in my arms every day. I cannot imagine fighting every day just to keep enough food in my little man’ s tummy to keep him alive. I feel an incredible amount of gratefulness wash over me every time I think of how much I have been blessed with.
