It Gets Better

Take 12 minutes to watch the following video, which has accumulated over 1 million views in a 5-day span. A Fort Worth councilman, Joel Burns, shares a message of hope for teens being bullied and struggling with their sexual identity. His simple message: it gets better.

Regardless of one's views on the GLBT lifestyle, this is an adult being honest, authentic, and communicating a message of hope for teens who are struggling with whether or not they want to live. Also regardless of one's views on sexuality, bullying is never okay. God is a God of justice, and adults turning away from bullying or allowing teens to persecute their peers for any reason simply does not align with the heart of God.

I remember a prof telling me in my college years that one of the simplest messages of hope you can share with someone in pain is this: you will be okay. Life is not okay now. It may not be for a long time. But you will be okay. It will not always be this way. There is always hope. If you're reading this and you're struggling with whether or not you can live another day, you will be okay. It gets better. There is infinite hope in Christ.
